1873 by the General Assembly of the State of Delaware. Delaware SPCA is the oldest animal welfare organization in the state. Established in 1873, it has provided continuous service to pets and their companions for 140 years.

The Mission of the Delaware SPCA is to prevent animal cruelty, homelessness and neglect and to promote the humane treatment of animals in the State of Delaware.

The Delaware SPCA receives no state or county funding, and there is no national SPCA. The organization relies solely on local donations to carry out its work on behalf of the animals it protects and the humans whom it serves.
