Kennel Attendant

The Kennel Attendant is responsible for the overall care of the animals within our shelter by providing food, water, and a clean environment. The role requires physically strenuous custodial activities and routine maintenance duties, including; cleaning kennels and cages; providing food and water for the animals; animal handling; and maintaining a safe and secure environment for the animals. The Kennel Attendant also provides customer service to guests seeking to adopt animals and oversees meet-and-greets and provides animal socialization. Candidates must be able to work independently, follow protocol, be comfortable working with animals, and have reliable transportation. Weekend and holiday availability required. Stamina is a must due to prolonged hours of walking and/or standing, scrubbing, and holding and/or lifting animals. Ability to lift 50 lbs. Previous professional animal care experience a plus.

Feline Care Attendant/Adoption Counselor

The Feline Care Attendant/Adoption Counselor will have responsibility for the health, wellbeing, and general care of the cats living in our shelter. Working with the Animal Care Manager, this position oversees feline care, handling, housing, and day-to-day animal care-related operations of the Cattery. Provides guidance regarding general care issues while upholding and promoting Delaware SPCA’s standard of animal care. The Feline Care Attendant/Adoption Counselor is the primary adoption counselor for cats and this is a public-facing role. This is a hands-on job with significant time spent working directly with and caring for cats. Weekend and holiday availability required. Customer Service Representative

The Customer Service Representative is responsible for providing high-quality customer service in person and on the phone. As the first person our guests meet when they call or walk in the door, this position requires professionalism, a positive attitude, and enthusiasm for working with the general public. The ideal candidate is a team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The Customer Service Representative interfaces with the public during animal intake and adoptions, and therefore must be able to maintain a calm environment for people and animals, deescalating and diffusing tense or emotional situations. This job requires weekend and holiday availability.
