Dog Walk on the Rehoboth Boardwalk
Presented By

Hundreds Take to the Boards for the Animals
October 1, 2011 - Over 200 humans and canines took to the boards in Rehoboth Beach this weekend for the Delaware SPCA’s first ever Bark on the Boards Dog Walk. This inaugural event was a great success, raising over $26,000 to support programs to protect homeless and abused animals and fund spay/neuter programs.
Grand Marshal, WBOC Meterologist Brian Keane, and his dog Bentley led the charge followed by Delaware SPCA’s own shelter animals and a sea of people and their pets. After the walk, the fun continued with pet contests and games on the beach. Also popular was the kissing booth, where a donation earned a smooch from DE SPCA alumnus, Seal. Paula from Eagle 97.7 morning show and Norman Short from Cool 101.3 kept the crowd entertained.
Bark on the Boards coincided with the first day of Rehoboth’s newly expanded pet season, where dogs are allowed on the beach and boardwalk. Participants were happy to indulge, as many took a roll in the sand or tested the waters.
A huge paws up to everyone who came out to support Bark on the Boards. We’ll see you next year! Click Here to see event photos.
