Meet our Veterinarian

The Delaware SPCA welcomes Dr. Madhulal Valliyatte, or “Dr. Maddy”. Dr. Maddy performs dog and cat wellness services and exams, including dental exams, vaccinations, microchipping, spay/neuter surgeries, and more.

The Delaware SPCA is pleased to expand its animal health services to the community with the addition of a full-time experienced veterinarian. “We are confident Dr. Maddy will help to provide much needed low cost veterinary services,” says Tiffany Briddell, Interim Executive Director.

Dr. Maddy is a licensed veterinarian in the state of Delaware. In 2014 he obtained a US veterinary license through certification of The Education Commission for Foreign Veterinary Graduates (ECFVG) of AVMA (American Board of Veterinary Medical Association) and NAVLE (North American Veterinary Licensing Exam). He worked as a veterinarian with an animal shelter in India, The Elephant Family Organization of the U.K., and The Kuwait Society for Protection of Animals and their Habitat (KSPATH). He has been honored with the ECO WARRIOR award by the Hon. Vice President of India in 2008, and also received the Wild Life Conservation Award from WORLD (Wing of Research in Local Development) from Rajasthan India.  Dr. Maddy also holds a degree in Wildlife management from Wildlife Institute of India, and is a member of Veterinarians International, Inc.

The Delaware SPCA is a private nonprofit organization dedicated to enhance the well-being of companion animals with their human care-givers and communities. We promote the humane treatment of animals by providing adoption opportunities, low-cost veterinary services and educational programs. We have been providing services for people and their companion animals since 1873. We do not receive federal funding, as there is no national SPCA. We rely primarily on local donations to carry on our work for the animals.

The Delaware SPCA plays a critical role in our state. Our shelter takes in over 1,000 animals a year, many of which are in urgent need of care and medical attention before they find new homes. We’re also Delaware’s largest provider of low-cost spay/neuter services, providing pet owners access to spay/neuter at little to no cost.
