Second Chance Fund
The Delaware SPCA's "Second Chance Fund" provides emergency veterinary care to critically sick or injured SPCA animals.

Since its inception the "Second Chance Fund" has provided thousands of dollars in critically needed care to numerous animals in our shelters.

The following pages include just a few of those animal's stories.



Meet Zulu


Zulu, a 3 year old male shepherd mix dog, was signed over to the Delaware SPCA in mid October when the owner was unable to afford his care. He is a sweet boy and is good with dogs and children (no cats!).

Meet Cliffy

Clifford, or "Cliffy" as the staff usually calls him, is an eight year old corgi mix who came to the Stanton shelter after being attacked by another dog.

Meet Caroline


Caroline was a five year old boxer who came to the Stanton shelter as a stray in May of 2008. She had a growth and sores on her side, but that didn't stop her from being the sweet dog everyone came to love.

Meet Willow

In July of 2008 a five month old stray lab puppy came to the Stanton shelter of the Delaware SPCA. She had open wounds and sores covering her back and torso. The consensus was that the wounds were acid burns.

Meet Sam

Sam recovering at the shelter with his favorite toy.

Sam, a two year old labrador retreiver mix, was struck by a car and suffered a broken hip. He was unable to walk on his right rear leg due to his injuries.
